Join Dr Amanda Schapel from PIRSA for a practical workshop on establishing meaningful soil-health baselines for vineyard and soil-health projects. The session will focus on affordable, accessible measurements that growers can use to better understand soil condition and monitor change over time.
Explore which indicators matter, how to take consistent samples, and how baseline data can support future management decisions, trials and investment.
Growers are encouraged to bring a soil sample from a vineyard block they would like to monitor for improvement, providing an opportunity to apply the discussion directly to their own site.

Dr Amanda Schapel is PIRSA’s Principal Officer for Soil Action and leads the South Australian Soils Collaboration Centre. With almost 30 years’ experience in agricultural soils, Amanda specialises in soil health, soil carbon and soil function. Her practical benchmarking work helps land managers understand their soils, identify realistic opportunities for improvement and make informed management decisions.
