This year’s Symposium, including the Deakin Rural Health and STaRR Showcases, will be held at The Mantra Hotel Lorne, Mountjoy Parade, Lorne on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 November 2026.PROGRAM (note, times may be subject to change)
MONDAY 16 NOVEMBER
• 9.30am: Deakin Rural Health Showcase 'Rural research with impact’
• Lunch
• 1pm: Western Alliance/ Health Voices Victoria CCI in Research Hub announcement
• 2pm: Spotlight on large regional research projects supported by Western Alliance
• Afternoon Tea
• 4pm: STaRR Emerging Researcher Showcase
• 6pm - late: Networking function at The Rooftop at Lorne Pub, with cocktail style dinner
TUESDAY 17 NOVEMBER
• 9am: Opening address, Keynote presentations
•Morning Tea
• 10:30am: Concurrent Session 1 showcasing projects changing health policy, practice or outcomes in rural and regional Victoria
• Lunch
• 12:30pm: Concurrent Session 2 showcasing projects changing health policy, practice or outcomes in rural and regional Victoria
• 2pm: Keynote presentations, announcement of Western Alliance Rapid Research Translation Grant recipients

ACCOMMODATION
Attendees will need to book and pay for their own accommodation, unless otherwise advised by Western Alliance.
On-site accommodation is available at The Mantra Hotel Lorne. Conference rates apply (subject to availability). To book accommodation and receive the conference rate at The Mantra Hotel Lorne please email your reservation request to lorne.groups@mantra.com.au . Note: The conference rate is not available for online bookings.
There are also various other accommodation options located in Lorne.

BOOKING INSTRUCTIONS - PLEASE READ
Please ensure you select the correct ticket for "member" or "non-member" ("member" relates to our member organisations: Barwon Health, Colac Area Health, Deakin University, East Grampians Health Service, Federation University, Grampians Health, Maryborough District Health Service, Portland District Health Service, South West Healthcare, Western Alliance, Western District Health Service, Western Victoria Primary Health Network).
If you are not employed by a member service listed above, please select a non-member ticket.
Registration for the Symposium and attendance at the networking function is free of charge for people working in Western Alliance member organisations. There is a small cost-recovery registration fee of $90 per day for people working in non-member organisations to present at or attend the Symposium, and a $55 fee to attend the networking function.
Everyone who wishes to attend one or both days of the Symposium must complete and submit the online registration form. Submission of an abstract does not mean you are automatically registered. You are still expected to complete the online registration form if you wish to attend.
Registrations are not transferable – if you are unable to attend please advise cassandrahamilton@westernalliance.org.au as soon as possible. If you have a colleague who would like to attend in your place, please ask them to contact cassandrahamilton@westernalliance.org.au directly.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY (non-member registrations)*
A full refund will be offered for cancellations at least 30 days prior to the Symposium. If cancelling within 30 days of the event, no refund can be offered.
CANCELLATION POLICY (member registrations)*
If you need to cancel your attendance, please contact us as early as possible so that we can offer your place to someone else. We reserve the right to seek compensation (reimbursement to Western Alliance of $95 per person per day) for 'no-shows' and cancellations less than 48 hours prior to the event.
