THE VAMPIRES AT THE MIL
About
For 20 years, The Vampires have forged a singular place in Australian contemporary jazz. Formed in Sydney in 2005, the quartet - Jeremy Rose (saxophones), Nick Garbett (trumpet), Noel Mason (bass) and Alex Masso (drums) - are known for their deep rhythmic connection, intertwining horn lines, melodic invention and adventurous, genre-defying sound.Across eight albums, international tours and appearances at major festivals throughout Australia, the UK and Europe, The Vampires have developed an enduring musical language that is both immediately recognisable and constantly evolving. Their collaborations with artists including Chris Abrahams, Lionel Loueke and Shannon Barnett have expanded their sonic world, while the core quartet remains the heart of the group: warm, inventive, groove-driven and intensely connected.
Celebrating two decades together, The Vampires bring their new album Skydancer to stages around the country. Building on the spacious, textural world of their ARIA Award-winning release Nightjar, Skydancer finds the band stretching its acoustic foundations with subtle electronics, layered production and cinematic atmosphere — all while retaining the immediacy and energy that make The Vampires such a compelling live experience.
