EV Charging in Strata
About
As electric vehicles become increasingly common, Owners Corporations need to understand how to effectively plan, implement and manage EV charging infrastructure in strata buildings. This webinar, presented by David Hamilton and Leila Idris, will explore the practical considerations involved in developing an EV strategy, including technology options, infrastructure requirements, funding models, communication strategies and how to prepare buildings to support future EV adoption. Attendees will learn about key commercial and technical considerations, including Level 1 and Level 2 charging, user-pays systems, benefit principles, car stackers, visitor parking considerations and risk management.
The session will also examine the legal framework governing EV charging in strata, including the powers, processes and resolutions required under the Owners Corporations Act 2006 and the impact of National Construction Code 2022 requirements for new apartment buildings to be EV ready. Participants will gain practical insights into managing owner applications for EV chargers, common property alterations, OC rules and agreements, insurance considerations and safety concerns. The webinar will also consider the future direction of Victorian Owners Corporation law, including unresolved issues around EV infrastructure and potential reforms arising from the review of the Owners Corporations Act 2006.
