Collage a Seascape
About
If you live on the Mornington Peninsula, you probably already have a favourite beach. Let’s capture that beach in a lovely collage painting you can have in your home. Feel free to bring along a photo of your favourite beach or explore the selection of reference photos Helen will have available for you. Do you like a calm relaxing summer beachscape, or a stormy windy winter one?Your creation will be made by cutting and tearing up your selection of beautiful papers from Helen’s personal stash of hand-painted collage papers in every colour of the rainbow. There will also be a selection of found and collected papers you might add like music sheets, old book pages, handmade papers, old postage stamps, all things papery. The papers will be glued in layers to a canvas or wood panel, to make a stunning picture of a relaxing seascape. It can be somewhat realistic, but you are also encouraged to use your imagination to create a totally fantasy seascape.
This is a very playful process, where nothing is wrong, anything goes, you will have an experienced collage artist on hand to guide you step by step but also encourage you to bring your art to life in your own unique artistic way. Final touches can be added using pens, markers, gold and silver. Your finished eye-catching work of art will be ready to hang on a wall or stand on a shelf.
