About
This course supports participants in continuing their re-accreditation as a MHFAider.Your instructor is Pip Cameron has been delivering MHFA courses since 2017.
Pip has delivered this course and other courses to corporate and non-corporate clients such as Ashurst, ODPP, Global Medical Solutions, Blooms the Chemist, MetLife, Revlon, Chanel, SmartEnergy, Penrith City Council, Climate Change & Sustainability | Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water; Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority and many more.
Pip delivers this course in a safe space as a mental health first aid conversation. We will work together to provide participants with the opportunity to engage and learn through the quality skills required to be a MHFAider.
Pip has years of lived experience and delivers this course with humility and a willingness to learn from participants. Pip will demonstrate kindness, patience, non-judgemental listening skills so her participants will complete this course knowing the importance of looking after our own mental health and needs, whilst being there for others and demonstrating acceptance and understanding.
Participants will discuss and revise the signs and symptoms of the most common mental health conditions, how to recognise and respond to an emerging or worsening mental health condition and the treatments and supports available.
Participants will revise:
* how to intervene early;
* respond in a crisis;
* offer support;
* reduce stigma;
* improve knowledge; and
* improve confidence.
We will revise:
* depression;
* anxiety;
* psychosis;
* substance use;
* suicidal thoughts and behaviours;
* panic attacks;
* non suicidal self-injury; and
* traumatic events.
Adults who complete the course become re-accredited as a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider), equipped with the knowledge, confidence and skills to provide someone with mental health information and support when it matters most.
Complete a short assessment in your own time at the end of the course to become re-accredited. Accreditation is valid for a further three years.
This course is suitable for individuals, workplaces of all sizes and volunteer and community-based groups. Any adult aged 18+ can attend who is already an existing MHFAider and continuing their accreditation.
