Bendigo Chamber Choir will celebrate 45 years of wonderful music making with a grand concert on Saturday October 17th in St Pauls Cathedral Bendigo at 4pm .The main work on the program will be G.F.Handel's Dixit Dominus for choir, soloists and orchestra.
Composed in Rome in April 1707, Handel’s Dixit Dominus is a breathtaking setting of Psalm 110. Written when the composer was only 22, this virtuosic, eight-movement Baroque masterpiece showcases his precocious genius, pairing fiery Old Testament text with theatrical, operatic flair.
This is a demanding choral tour de force that pushes both singers and instrumentalists to the absolute limit.
The program also features J.S.Bach's motet Komm Jesu Komm plus other music by Palestrina,Rheinberger, Whitcare and Lauridsen.
