About

Enjoy the best of the Sydney Writers’ Festival without travelling to the city! Bowral Library is hosting a series of official festival talk playbacks over four weeks, featuring some of the festival’s standout sessions.

For Week 3, hear from a full panel of speakers as they debate free speech:

About the playback:
PEN Sydney has been defending writers and their freedom of expression here and around the globe for more than 90 years. In this panel discussion, journalists Jan Fran and Peter Greste and cartoonist Cathy Wilcox share their experiences of navigating complex environments with their politically engaged work. How do we find a middle ground among nuanced perspectives and multiple truths?

Hear Jan, Peter and Cathy reflect on these prescient themes in thoughtful conversation with Benjamin Law. Don’t miss this chance to enjoy some of Australia’s best conversations, stories and ideas without leaving town!

Event Details:
Make the most of your experience with our official event booklet! Once you've booked your ticket, you can collect your brochure from the library before the event or pick one up when you arrive at the playback.

Attend all 4 talks and collect a stamp at each session to go into the draw to win a $50 Bookshop Bowral voucher!

Plus, there'll be even more prizes and giveaways throughout the talks, so don't miss out!
