• Have a Fitness to Drive Medical clearance
• Have Learner’s Permit as a minimum, may have an existing driver’s licence
• Be an existing hand control driver wanting to look at upgrading controls OR be starting the driving journey with driving modifications
• May have been assessed but not sure which driving control option to go with
• Be willing to travel to HART Driver Training at St. Ives (travel expenses are your responsibility)
• Be available for a 1-hour session on 8 April between 9am and 3pm

What you get:

• Opportunity to explore driving options, see what feels right, discuss the pros and cons for you. Learn about what is available and the process involved
• One to one session with a Specialist Driving Instructor for 1 hour
• Opportunity to try up to 3 different driving controls in your session
• Ability to be paired up with a Driver Trained OT close to you to take the next step and get assessed

What you don’t get:

• The sessions do not replace a formal driving assessment with a Driver Trained OT and Specialist Driving Instructor (if required)
• This is not an all-day event. To help more people, we will have short 1-hour sessions per person throughout the day.

NOTE:

• Aged Care funding rarely covers driving in your package. You may need to privately fund some or all the driving modifications and process to get your licence endorsed
