Join Senator Leah Blyth, Shadow Assistant Minister for Defence Infrastructure, for a special Hour of Power event with Phillip Thompson OAM MP, Shadow Minister for Defence Industry and Defence Personnel.This is a special opportunity to hear from one of the Coalition’s strongest voices on defence, service and the future of Australia’s Defence Force.
Phillip Thompson OAM MP is the Federal Member for Herbert and Shadow Minister for Defence Industry and Defence Personnel. A proud Townsville local, Phillip served as a soldier in the Australian Army, including deployments to East Timor and Afghanistan, where he was seriously wounded in action.
Following his military service, Phillip became a passionate advocate for veterans, mental health and suicide prevention, earning recognition as Queensland's Young Australian of the Year and being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to the community.
Since his election to Federal Parliament in 2019 as the Member for Herbert, Phillip has been a strong voice for North Queensland, championing veterans, defence personnel, local industry and regional communities. He currently serves in the Coalition Shadow Cabinet, where he continues to advocate for a stronger defence force, a resilient defence industry and better outcomes for Australian veterans and their families.
This will be a very special Hour of Power and is your chance to ask questions and talk directly with Phillip. Make sure to bring friends and family as non-members are welcome and will value the chance to hear from Phillip about defence, service and the challenges facing our nation.
