This year ABC Radio National’s Top 100 Books is asking listeners to vote for the Top 100 Australian books of all time (voting opens August 31)
Join ABC Radio National host Natasha Mitchell (Big Ideas) for a lively panel to consider their favourite Australian books for kids, and to debate whether children's books have become too didactic.
They'll be discussing questions like:
Do children’s books need a strong message, or do kids prefer pure mischief?
How do authors come up with their characters, and the journeys they take them on?
What do kids want to read, and is it the same as what adults want kids to read?
Is there a tension between education and entertainment in children’s literature?
Panel participants include Australia’s Children's Laureate, the one and only Andy Griffiths, and Readings' own Carlton Kids manager, Tamuz Ellazam.
