Trans Joy Book Club August Meeting
About
Do you want to discuss books about trans people, by trans people, with trans people? Then join us for our bi-monthly Trans Joy Book Club! 🏳️‍⚧️(That’s bi-monthly as in once every 2 months)Our book club pick for August is Birthday by Meredith Russo.
Tickets are free, but we’d like to encourage you to help us thank Shelf Lovers for taking time out of their day to prepare the space for us by bringing a gold coin donation, or buying something from their store while we’re there!
If you’re borrowing the book from the library, please remember that most libraries only stock a limited number of copies of trans books, so try to read and return your book as soon as possible so other members of the book club can access it too!
If you’re struggling to get your hands on a copy of the book, message us or email us at transjoymeanjin@gmail.com and we’ll help you out.
📌Place: Gender Health Australia - 1018 Logan Rd, Holland Park West
đź“…Date: Sunday, 30 August
🕜Time: 2pm - 4pm
If you can’t join us in person, we also have online book club groups on both Goodreads and StoryGraph. If you’d like to join either of those, email us at transjoymeanjin@gmail.com and let us know which group/s you’d like to be added to!
Gender Health Australia has a wheelchair accessible entrance and bathroom ♿️
If you’re driving, there’s a small private car park attached to the building, and some surrounding street parking may be available.
If you’re catching public transport, the closest option is Logan Rd at Barter St, stop 30, which stops directly outside the building. You can get there on the 172, 175, and 189 bus routes.
If you have recently been ill or exposed to someone who is ill, we kindly ask that you wear a mask. If you are currently ill, although we will miss you, please stay home this time to protect the vulnerable members of our community.
Also, if you’d like to get prepared for our October book club, we’ll be reading Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas.
Our meeting takes place on the lands of the Turrbul and Jagera people. We are grateful for their generations of care, and always remember that this has been a place of community and joy for thousands of years. No treaty has been signed, and sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
