Sally Carter Ukulele Workshops - WEEKEND 5 & 6 September

These workshops are for soprano/concert/tenor ukuleles only. NO baritones.Participants need to have a basic understanding of TAB reading and knowledge of the commonly played chords.
Participants must bring a pen/pencil, music stand and a low G ukulele.
Saturday 5 September
10 – 11am: Introduction to TAB reading. Based on tunes in Sally’s Ukulele Fun 1 book.
This is a separate event and not part of the ticketing for the rest of the weekend of workshops. Cost $25 cash at the door.

11:15am – 12:15pm: Effective fingering. How to get a smooth tone from your ukulele. Simple tunes will be played.
12:15 – 1:15pm LUNCH
1:15 – 2:15pm: Get creative. How to write your own strumming patterns. Introducing hammer-on chords. Playing well known songs.
2:45 – 3:45pm: Chords and melody. Exploring well known chord shapes. Playing an easy arrangement of Autumn Leaves. Chord diagrams included.
Sunday 6 September
10 – 11am: Exploring beyond fret 5. Simple tunes played up the fretboard using logical, systematic fingering.
11:15am – 12:15pm: More tunes played up the fretboard to practise what we learnt.
12:15 – 1:15pm LUNCH
1:15 – 2:15pm: Get creative. How to write your own plucking patterns. Easier than you think! Playing well known songs.
2:45 – 3:45pm: Song mashup. Playing a shortened version of three well known songs as a medley of ridiculous fun!
