Swans Academy trials are an exciting opportunity, but they can also be one of the most challenging experiences for young footballers.Every year we see talented players arrive at trials carrying extra pressure. They want to impress. They don't want to make mistakes. They worry about who's watching and whether they're doing enough. Those thoughts are completely normal, and every player experiences them differently.
That's why we run these sessions.
The goal isn't simply to get more kicks before trial day. It's to help every player walk into the trials feeling prepared, confident and ready to perform.
Throughout the sessions we'll focus on the football side of things, including skill execution, decision making, game awareness and what Swans Academy selectors are looking for. We'll also spend time discussing the mental side of trialling.
We'll talk about managing nerves, staying present, recovering after mistakes and trusting the work that's already been put in. Often it's not a player's ability that holds them back at trials. It's allowing the occasion to become bigger than the game itself.
We want every player to leave these sessions with a clear understanding of what to expect, confidence in their preparation and the mindset to trust themselves when it matters most.
No one can guarantee an Academy position, but every player deserves the opportunity to walk off the ground knowing they gave themselves the best chance to perform.
We look forward to working with every player and helping them prepare for the opportunity ahead.
