Speaker: Richard LeonardTopic: “Schools are not failing – they are becoming obsolete”.
(How school design is responding to contemporary teaching and learning)
Richard Leonard, LFRAIA, is an Architect and the Principal of Hayball, an Australian architecture practice with offices in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane, where he focuses on helping schools integrate contemporary teaching and learning philosophies into creative design responses.
He is a member of the Learning Environments Applied Research Network (LEaRN) and has collaborated with The University of Melbourne as a Linkage Partner in four Australian Research Council education research projects. A Past Chair and an Honorary Life Member of the Association for Learning Environments Australasia,
Richard is also a regular contributor to education media, conferences, seminars and forums both nationally and internationally. He is currently co-editing a book with Dr Marian Mahat from The University of Melbourne entitled “Design for Learning: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Transformative Learning Environments”.
