Each year, Western Edge offers a creative playground for emerging actors and artists from Melbourne’s west through its beloved community theatre program, Edge Ensembles. The weekly program brings together young people in Footscray and St Albans, and culminates in a brand-new theatre work — devised and performed by participants themselves — for audiences across the west. This year, young artists responded to the theme of ILLUMINATE, dancing with ideas of visibility, insight, shadow and exposure. The show is set in the not-too-distant future where citizens of two nations grapple with a world that is so utopic it feels dystopic. Centring around a world competition think Eurovision mixed with the World Cup where winning is about fighting to reclaim the very substance of what makes us human. Join us to celebrate the radiant minds behind this new work, and stay for a complimentary feed after the show.
