An evening with Rawan Osman in Sydney
About
Born in Syria and raised in Lebanon, Rawan Osman is an internationally recognised speaker whose remarkable personal journey challenges long-held narratives about Israel, identity and coexistence.Moderated by Kathryn Eisman, a multi-Emmy Award-nominated television journalist, speaker, bestselling author, fashion profiler, creator and television host.
We also welcome Israel’s Team Shalva marathon runners who have been invited to attend this event ahead of their participation in the Sydney Marathon on the 30th of August with special guest speaker - Roy Oryon. First Lieutenant (Lt.) Roy Orion served as the Deputy Company Commander (Executive Officer) of Company B in Battalion 13 of the Golani Brigade during the Swords of Iron War. On October 7, 2023, he led his soldiers in the fierce battles in the Gaza border region during Hamas' surprise attack on Israel. During the fighting, Company B lost 18 of its soldiers—an immense loss that left a lasting impact on the unit. Following the battles, Roy commemorated his fallen soldiers with a tattoo of 18 flowers, each representing one of the soldiers who lost his life. The tattoo has become a deeply personal tribute symbolising remembrance, responsibility, and the enduring bond between a commander and his soldiers.
