The session will focus on raising emotionally intelligent boys in the age of online influence. This workshop will be facilitated by MHP Amy Smyth, whose background working as a Police Officer and with Men’s Behaviour Change Programs has given her a wealth of knowledge in this area. Also included is a panel with some male Holy Cross College staff to reflect on what they are observing in our young people and what their own experiences have been.
Key takeaways:
Understanding how adolescent development shapes emotional expression, risk-taking and identity formation in boys
Exploring the messages teenage boys are exposed to online including social media, gaming culture and influencers
The powerful impact of strong, values-driven male role models
Practical strategies to help boys recognise, express and regulate anger in constructive ways
Identifying signs of problem anger and radicalisation, and knowing when and how to seek additional support
