Expanding Horizons explores humanity’s enduring fascination with the cosmos, weaving together powerful contemporary choral works with insights from cutting-edge astrophysics.
From the soaring optimism of Christopher Tin’s Sogno di Volare (“The Dream of Flight”) to the celestial wonder of Ola Gjeilo’s The Spheres, this captivating program reflects on our place in the vast expanse of space and time. Featuring works by Timothy Takach, Katerina Gimon, Robin Salkeld, Arvo Pärt, Urmas Sisask, Daniel Elder, and Ēriks Ešenvalds, the concert traverses themes of exploration, awe, peace, and our connection to the stars.
Professor Tamara Davis, astrophysicist from the University of Queensland, will guide audiences through some of the most profound discoveries of modern cosmology. Her engaging presentations will explore how dark energy may change over time, what we can learn from mapping the entire observable universe, and how humanity continues to expand the horizons of knowledge.
