Rainbow Families Qld Resilience Camp
About
Building brave, connected, and proud rainbow families6–8 November 2026 | Camp Cooby, Geham QLD
Imagine your child spending a weekend making new friends, trying new things, building confidence, and simply having fun alongside other children from rainbow families.
That’s exactly why we created Resilience Camp.
Designed for LGBTQ+ parents with primary school aged children (5+), this fully catered weekend is all about building resilience, creating friendships and strengthening a sense of belonging, for both children and parents.
Set amongst the beautiful surrounds of Camp Cooby, just two hours from Brisbane, Resilience Camp combines outdoor adventure, interactive resilience workshops and plenty of opportunities to connect with other rainbow families.
Whether you’re a family with two mums, two dads, a trans or gender-diverse parent, a solo parent, or another beautiful version of a rainbow family, you belong here.
⸻
Why Resilience Camp?
Every child deserves to feel proud of who they are and know they belong. For many rainbow families, opportunities to connect with other LGBTQ+ parents can be rare. Resilience Camp gives children the chance to build friendships, develop confidence and discover they’re part of a welcoming and supportive community.
Parents and carers benefit too, with opportunities to connect, share experiences and enjoy a weekend where you don’t have to explain your family.
⸻
What’s Included?
Your ticket includes:
* Two nights’ accommodation in shared cabins (sharing with other families)
* All meals, snacks and drinks (Friday dinner to Sunday lunch)
* Outdoor adventure activities and group challenges
* Creative workshops
* Friendship-building activities
* Interactive resilience workshops for children and parents
* A fully facilitated weekend program
⸻
🧠 Interactive Resilience Workshops
We’re thrilled to be partnering with Kelly, Registered Psychologist from Evolve Wellbeing, who will facilitate both the children’s and parent resilience workshops.
These sessions are designed to be hands-on, practical and engaging, not lectures. Through interactive activities, children will explore confidence, emotional resilience, friendships and problem-solving, while parents will gain practical strategies to support their family’s wellbeing and connect with other LGBTQ+ parents.
⸻
Outdoor Adventures
Led by the experienced Camp Cooby team, children will enjoy a range of exciting activities that encourage teamwork, communication, confidence and resilience.
Activities may include:
* Giant’s Ladder
* Zipline
* Archery
* Waterslide
* Orienteering
* Team challenges
* Creative activities
Most importantly… they’ll have a whole lot of fun!
⸻
Making Camp Accessible
One of our biggest goals was making Resilience Camp accessible to as many families as possible.
Thanks to the generous support of Macquarie Bank, we’re able to offer a limited number of subsidised places, helping more rainbow families experience camp.
To support this, we’ve created three pricing tiers. We don’t formally means test or ask for proof of income, we trust our community to choose the option that best reflects their family’s circumstances.
Families who choose a Community Ticket help make it possible for another rainbow family to attend. We think that’s a pretty special way to support one another.
⸻
Is This Camp For Us?
You are a queer parent/parents and have primary school aged children (5+) and you’re looking for a weekend filled with adventure, connection, friendship and belonging, we’d love to welcome you.
⸻
Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to Macquarie Bank for helping make Resilience Camp more accessible through subsidised tickets, and to Evolve Wellbeing for partnering with us to deliver meaningful, evidence-based resilience workshops for both children and parents.
Together, we’re creating a weekend where rainbow families can connect, grow and create memories that will last long after camp comes to an end.
We can’t wait to welcome your family to Resilience Camp.
