On Saturday, December 5th the sound of 300 Bag Pipes and Drums will skirl through the Central Highlands of Victoria marking the opening of the 75th Daylesford Highland Gathering.

Thousands from all over Victoria and beyond will descend on this famous Spa town to celebrate Scottish culture, heritage and community. The iconic Pipe Band street march has been in place since the gathering's inception in 1952, delighting locals and visitors alike as they jostle for the perfect viewing spot on Vincent Street.

A full day of events awaits you up at Victoria Park, with something for everyone!

The Daylesford Pipe Band Competition continues throughout the day with bands from Victoria and Interstate. The competition concludes with the breathtaking spectacle of the Massed Bands marching across the field at the end of the day.

If you need to rest your ears, you can delight your eyes and wonder at the skill and endurance of over 100 competitors in the Victorian Highland Dance Championships or cheer on the mighty Highland Games. A field of 30 athletes will complete a full program of events including Caber Toss, Heavy & Light Hammer throw, Weight over bar, Stone Put and Weight for distance. All while wearing their kilts! Barwon Academy of Arms will also be on ground competing for glory in the Scáthach Broadsword tournament.

Families will find plenty to keep the kids entertained, from climbing hay bales, challenging Mum & Dad to a Tug-o-War, trying their skills with a sword and visiting the face painter to be transformed into a sweet Unicorn or a fearsome Loch Ness monster!

While you're there why not savour a Haggis burger and stroll through the Celtic & Community market full of Scottish wares, whisky & beer, hot food and sweet treats before visiting our Highland cattle and Highland Breed dogs on show with opportunities to cuddle and brush the dogs and have a chat and pat with the Coos!
