Motivational Interviewing, Foundation Skills - Ballarat
Grampians Sector Development welcomes CHSP funded Allied Health Staff to attend Motivational Interviewing Workshops facilitated by Dr Kylie McKenzie.
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a compassionate and person-centred approach to communication that is particularly helpful for working in healthcare and community support. Through well-articulated skills and strategies, MI promotes building a partnership with a person, focusing on what is important to them, and respecting and empowering their choices.
The Foundation Skills Workshop offers an introduction to:
- MI as a person-centred and compassionate practice
- the language of change and how MI skills can support behaviour change
- strategies and skills for working with ambivalence, discord and complex issues
This full-day workshop commences at 9am and conclude at 4.30pm and will include morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
