Join us for Redesdale Rocks, a premier four-day community outreach event in Redesdale, Victoria, dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and exploring the rich dry stone wall heritage of the district.Whether you are a local landholder looking to learn a practical new trade, a history enthusiast, or just curious about traditional craftsmanship, there is something here for you. Activities will take place across the township, including the Redesdale Recreation Reserve and the Redesdale Hall.
While some activities are open-access for the public, pre-booking is essential for the structured sessions due to venue and course capacity limits. Please select your tickets below.
Sessions Requiring Bookings:
1. Free Two-Day Training Course
When: Friday 11 & Saturday 12 September
Where: Redesdale Recreation Reserve
Cost: FREE (Strictly limited to 30 participants)
A hands-on, practical introductory workshop for farmers, landholders, wall owners, and interested community members. Learn traditional dry stone wall construction and repair techniques directly from five of Australia's top professional waller trainers: Wayne Fox, Bruce Munday, David Long, Evan Pierce, and Keegan Darling.
2. Public Forum
When: Sunday 13 September, 9:30 AM
Where: Redesdale Hall
Cost: Free
Secure your seat for a morning of expert presentations exploring the history, environmental benefits, practical maintenance toolkits, and fire mitigation value of dry stone walls. Your booking also includes entry to the award-winning national touring exhibition, A Stone Upon A Stone.
3. Guided Field Trip
When: Sunday 13 September (Following the Public Forum)
Cost: $55.00
An exclusive tour onto private properties across the district to view exceptional examples of local dry stone craftsmanship. Travel alongside expert historians and professional wallers who have built or repaired the structures, offering firsthand insights into the stories behind the stone.
Open-Access Event (No Booking Required):
Heritage Wall Restoration Project (Gibbards Lane): You do not need a ticket to visit this site. Come along throughout the event to watch professional wallers actively restore a heritage-listed stock enclosure, demonstrating traditional tools and structural techniques in real time.

Accommodation: Local stays in and around Redesdale fill up very quickly for this event. Early reservations are highly recommended.
