A two–hour art workshop
Experiment with the modernists’ ways of evoking mood, atmosphere and feeling to make emotional works that are a stark break with the realist mode.
NOTE: It would be helpful for pARTicipants to have already seen the Becoming Modern exhibition in the Argyle Galleries prior to this workshop.

About the facilitators
Jan Peacock began art-teaching in 1961 mainly in matriculation and secondary colleges and for 26 years was part of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery team co-ordinating the Art Guides and delivering their public art programs. An original TMAG art guide since 1994, she also created the Hobart Gallery Guide in 1998, co-developed Images of Tasmania and has coordinated its annual exhibitions since then. She maintains a personal art practice and in 2024 was awarded an OAM for service to museums and galleries.Helen MacLean is a Volunteer Art Guide at TMAG and a practicing artist. A graduate from the National Art School and Sydney College of the Arts, Helen taught vocational art throughout corrective services in Sydney and the Central Coast Regional Gallery. Her moto is “Art, for the sheer love of it'.

TMAG will only refund tickets 72 hours prior to the workshop if a request is made directly to the event organiser. In the event of any cancellation or rescheduling of the workshop by the presenters, tickets will be offered for an alternate date or refunded in full.
