Timed to coincide with the major exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW, this lecture examines Takashi Murakami’s monumental 500 Arhats featuring his signature ‘Superflat’ aesthetic which absorbs Buddhist iconography, anime, and global capitalism into a dense visual field that oscillates between playful excess and profound spiritual unease.
