The program is built around William's three viola suites - the first inspired by local birdsongs, the second presented in it's final full version for the first time inspired by the ancient Greek myth of love and the underworld Proserpyna (Persesphone and Hades) and the Third also presented here for the first time in full - Susurrus of the Sea!
The concert will also feature music by Kaaija Saariaho, Igor Stravinsky, Jessie Montgomery, Henri Vieuxtemps and Viviane Fine.
William Vyvyan Murray recently returned to Australia after 17 years living and performing in Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris. He has been invited to leading classical music festivals like Verbier (Switzerland), Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival(Finland) Schiermonikoog and Wonderfeel (the Netherlands) and Podium Esslingen(Germany) and is one of Australia's best sounding violists.
He is excited to present this program which includes the world premiere of his new work for Viola & Guitar.
