More, More! Encore!Patrick Savage – Violin
Coady Green – Piano
A celebration of a great Australian: the extraordinary violinist and inspirational teacher, Donald Scotts (1927-2024).
Marking the release of an album of encore masterpieces in Don’s honour, this is a concert of irresistible melodies, sparkling virtuosity and charm, with international artists, Patrick Savage, violin, and Coady Green, piano.
Irrepressibly joyful and charismatic, Don Scotts was a much-loved musical personality. He was the leader of the Melbourne String Quartet, an exceptional soloist, a figurehead of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and an inspirational violin teacher to many young players.
This concert presents an eclectic collection of encores that he loved - some widely celebrated, some hidden treasures - selected from his very own sheet music library.
Originally from Bendigo and now living in London, violinist Patrick Savage held the position of Principal First Violin in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London for several years and is a free-lance concertmaster, soloist, studio session player and West End musician. He’s also a composer for film, television and video games. Patrick was the band leader for the London production of the musical Hamilton, and regularly led touring orchestras for the late legendary American songwriter Burt Bacharach and iconic producer Quincy Jones. He has built a global career performing on the great classical stages of the world and for countless Hollywood blockbuster scores. His critically-acclaimed 2024 album The Golden Age of Hollywood confirmed his place as one of Britain’s leading violinists.
One of Australia’s most sought-after concert pianists, Coady Green has established a reputation as a major talent on the international stage, described as “a virtuoso pianist with sensitivity, intelligence and charm”, “accurate and exhilarating” (Musical Opinion, London), and with “a strong and versatile technique capable of the most delicate coloring and tonal brilliance, rising to the challenges of extreme virtuoso demands with relish” (The Advertiser, South Australia).
