Teej is a Hindu festival celebrated mainly by Nepali women, dedicated to the goddess Parvati and her devotion to Lord Shiva. It is a day filled with prayers, fasting, dancing, singing, and vibrant red attire, symbolising love, strength, and the wellโbeing of family. Women along with family come together to share Dar (a special feast), celebrate sisterhood, and honour cultural traditions passed down through generations. Teej is celebrated not only in Nepal but also by Nepali communities around the world, including Australia, where it helps keep cultural identity alive and strengthens community connection.
This celebration is an important cultural festival for the Nepalese community, and we warmly welcome everyone in Mount Gambier to join us.
