AboutJoin the Corrigin Farm Improvement Group (CFIG) for the Time of Sowing Bus Tour on Tuesday, 18th August 2026, a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon of practical learning, local crop inspections and networking.
Participants will meet at the CFIG office (21 Goyder Street, Corrigin) to board the bus for an 11.30am departure, bound for Quairading. Enjoy a paddock lunch upon arrival at the 4Farmers and AusPlow trial site, which features CFIG's RiskWi$e Time of Sowing (ToS) demo plots. Through this national project, we explore how the time of sowing and variety selection influence frost management and crop performance within the Wheatbelt region. Hear from industry experts, including representatives from grain breeders AGT and InterGrain, as they share insights into seasonal decision-making and variety performance. We also aim to visit a selection of the 18 other trials hosted by 4Farmers & AusPlow at the Quairading demo site.
This event will include a weather station demonstration, updates on pasture legume and herbicide trials and include discussions on practical strategies growers can apply throughout the remainder of the season.
The bus trip from Quairading back to Corrigin will feature an old-fashioned 'Croppy', including two paddock 'walk and talks'. This is a fantastic opportunity to get out of your own patch and explore how other local crops are faring, what some farmers are experiencing this season, why they seeded a crop at a particular time and any other challenges they have encountered. It will be an informal peer-to-peer discussion guided by CFIG and an agronomist (TBC).
This bus trip is an excellent opportunity to see local demonstrations firsthand, connect with fellow growers and industry professionals, while also gaining valuable insights into the latest research that supports local, productive and resilient farming systems.
Whether you're a CFIG member or attending for the first time, everyone is welcome. Registration is essential.

Lunch, snacks and refreshments will be provided. Please advise any dietary requirements when registering.
Please Note
• This is an outdoor event involving farm visits. Please dress appropriately for winter conditions and wear suitable footwear.
• Travel between sites will be by bus. Please arrive on time, as the bus will depart promptly. Car pooling is also welcome, please still register and advise if you are planning to travel by car.
• In the event of adverse weather, attendees will be notified of any changes to the program.
• Registration is essential for catering and transport purposes and close 5pm, Friday 14th August.
