Canberra Open Homes | CIT Woden - Youth Foyer
About
The Woden Education First Youth Foyer is a new supported accommodation and education initiative located at the CIT Woden campus, designed to help young people aged 16 to 24 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The facility provides housing for up to 20 residents, alongside comprehensive support services including education, employment, health and wellbeing, social connection, and independent living skills. Operated by Marymead CatholicCare in partnership with CIT and the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, the foyer aims to empower young people to complete their education, build independence, secure stable housing, and successfully transition into adulthood.Gray Puksand converted a vast campus into a more compact ‘vertical campus’ for Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT). Its innovative timber construction frames and groundbreaking learning spaces enhance the layered experience of connection to Country. Abundant raw timber in technologically advanced learning spaces transforms them into warm and welcoming environments, instantly and recognisably ‘CIT’. Specialist learning spaces have sophisticated industry-like functionality, meanwhile, the strong presence of timber, paired with a material palette that connects to Country, creates an appealing ambiance and strong sense of place. Woden Education First Youth Foyer sits within this new CIT campus.
