A central figure in the development of French Impressionism, Pierre Auguste Renoir isamong the most celebrated artists of the 19th century. However, the numerous
reproductions of his work - often sold as souvenirs - can lead us to overlook the
groundbreaking nature of his work.
This presentation re-examines a selection of his well-known and less familiar images to
challenge overfamiliarity and reveal his true artistic breakthrough. Inspired by the 2026
exhibitions across Boston, Paris, and London, our focus will be Renoir’s compelling portrayals
of love, camaraderie, and modern Parisian life to demonstrate these works provide
glimpses into a rapidly transforming city.
