Parenting teenagers can be tricky and sometimes the tough issues can leave even the most confident parents wondering what to do next.Carey Baptist College Forrestdale warmly invites Carey families and parents from the wider community to join us for Engaging Adolescents, a practical three-evening workshop series designed to help parents navigate the teenage years with greater confidence.
Whether you’re already part of the Carey community, considering Carey for your family, or simply looking for practical support as a parent of teenagers, you are very welcome to attend.
Three Tuesday evenings in Term 3, from 6:30pm - 8:00pm

The College is covering the cost of the workshop series. Families attending are simply asked to contribute $10 for the professional workbook, provided at the first session and used throughout the three evenings (one per family).
What we'll cover
Drawing on psychologist Dr Michael Hawton’s 30 years of experience, Engaging Adolescents provides practical strategies to help parents navigate challenging behaviour, risk-taking, motivation, family expectations and communication.
Across the three sessions, we’ll explore:
Parenting roles
Personality differences
Reasonable expectations
Communicating with your teenager
Your facilitator
Engaging Adolescents was developed by Dr Michael Hawton and will be facilitated by Graham Irvine, an experienced educator and presenter of relationship and parenting programs.
Graham has worked across Primary and Secondary education, including 13 years as Principal of Regent College and as Head of Christian Education at Kingsway Christian College. He continues to facilitate parenting and relationship programs through Riverview Church.
Come along, meet other parents and leave with practical tools you can use at home.
