York Street
About
Written by Jim Loftus. Directed by Sherryl-Lee Secomb.YORK STREET is centred on the Murran family who lived in York St, Coorparoo, Brisbane. It is a series of vignettes featuring real characters from the author's family, in particular, his mother, Sonya, whose early life set the stage for her career as an Australian trade unionist. It is a story of a young woman who refused to accept her world as it was, coming to understand the power she held to make change - change that's surely impacted many that came after her. The time line begins in 1939 and runs through to 1942, involving the impact of World War Two on the local community.
YORK STREET is a new work making its world debut, right here in Manly, Queensland, Australia.
