About
DESTINATIONS: CANADA - FROM COAST TO COAST
Continuing our Destinations Lecture Series this time we visit Canada whose rich history spans thousands of years, beginning with the Indigenous peoples who first inhabited the land. European exploration started with Norse Vikings around 1000 AD, followed by French and British colonisation in the 16th century. On July 1, 1867, the colonies united to form the self-governing Dominion of Canada.
Canada boasts some truly spectacular scenery and magnificent cities. In these two lectures, we cross from the Pacific West Coast to the Atlantic East Coast, just as the railways did in the second half of the 19th century. Along the way, we encounter some great sights – from Victoria to Vancouver, then via the Rockies to Calgary. We cross the prairies to discover Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City. This lecture series will be a visual tour de force!
Includes two lectures and refreshments
