Butoh Night is an intimate performance space featuring different guest artists each time. We foster a vibrant Butoh community where we come together to celebrate everyone’s unique artistic expression.Butoh Night vol.3 presents “Dual Remnants”!
Dual Remnants is a collaborative performance featuring Aki, Dave, and Dorian.
Between the first breath of creation and the quiet finality of ruin, there exists a state of perpetual tension. Dual Remnants drifts through this landscape where the echoes of what we build clash against the relentless grace of what remains. Through the intersection of movement, sound, and stillness, the performance maps the duality of the human experience: the violent intimacy of destruction and the fragile, shivering light of rebirth. Come to witness the fracture, the surrender, and the spirits that bloom in the places we thought we had abandoned.
Aki
Aki has been exploring dance and awareness through conscious practices such as active meditation and improvisational dance.
She first discovered Butoh after moving to Australia and has been practicing with Yuki Taniguchi and others in Australia and Japan.
Dave Hayes
David Hayes is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice traverses performance, sculpture, and digital media. They has performed with Theatre of Thunder and is a founding member of Denizens of the Deep. Their performance style is focused on Butoh with additional training in Suzuki and Bodyweather.
Dorian Dowse
Dorian Dowse is an artist, musician and performer. As member of Theatre of Thunder they performed as a Butoh dancer for several years before moving to creating music for Butoh. There they applied Butoh principles to create surreal ambient soundscapes that transport dancers and audience into altered states that evoke psychedelic experiences.
