About
Digital Dissent is an interactive showcase of innovative microgames from some of Canberra’s best game designers. It explores the Craft + Design Festival’s theme of ‘dissent’ over two weekends at the National Film and Sound Archive.
This program is part of the 2026 Craft + Design Canberra Festival held on 5 - 15 November, and supported by artsACT through City of Design fund. To find out more about the Festival, please visit the website at craftanddesigncanberra.org, follow the Festival on Instagram and Facebook, and sign up to the newsletter.
Digital Dissent is supported by Program Partner National Film and Sound Archive.
Microgames showcase - 7-8 November and 14-15 November
Come and play, and experience a collection of new games by local designers, custom-made for visitors to interactively explore various takes and perspectives on dissent. You’ll even be able to meet the developers and discuss their works with them.
Each microgame in Digital Dissent has been commissioned by the Canberra Game Developers Association (CanDev), co-curated with the support of the National Film and Sound Archive’s curators, and crafted in consultation with some of Canberra’s most experienced games industry mentors.
Digital Dissent in Discussion talks series - Saturday 7 November 11:00am-1:30pm
Continue exploring with our Digital Dissent in Discussion talks series on our opening day, where local developers will dissect and reflect on the works presented and the evolution of Canberra’s game design scene. You’ll hear from a range of speakers on how Canberra’s industry blazed a trail and how the games we make break the mould.
