The Geelong Club September Business Breakfast (SOLD OUT)
About
How might Geelong accelerate growth and create more jobs and investment for the businesses and citizens of Geelong? We are delighted to welcome Phil Noble, Managing Partner and Founder of SPP, and David Mackay, Partner in SPP’s Melbourne office, who will share their insights into the opportunities for Geelong and the broader Greater Geelong economy.
Phil has been involved in growth initiatives across Victoria and NSW for more than 25 years, including economically focused precinct strategies for Fisherman’s Bend and Arden in Melbourne.
With experience across insurance and banking, Phil brings a strong understanding of the pivotal role financial services play in the Australian economy, as well as a particular interest in comparative advantage, commercial drivers and the role of government in supporting sustainable growth.
David has a particular focus on growth in consumer markets and tourism. He has supported a strategy refresh for Visit Victoria, worked on the successful business case for the Geelong Performing Arts Centre, and has extensive experience with FMCG and advanced manufacturing businesses, including businesses based in Greater Geelong. David is also a Board member of Sovereign Hill.
Together, Phil and David will explore the changing nature of industry in Geelong, with particular reference to the emergence of Geelong as a hub for Social Insurance and Health. They will also consider other potential growth areas, including Education, Advanced Manufacturing and the visitor economy.
The discussion will then turn to the key levers available to Local, State and Federal governments to drive economic growth, and the opportunities this could create for Geelong-based businesses.
