About
Regenerative endodontics has transformed the management of immature permanent teeth with pulpal necrosis by shifting treatment goals from apical closure toward biologically driven healing and continued root maturation. This lecture presents the evolution of the Mahidol Study series, representing nearly two decades of clinical and translational research in regenerative endodontics conducted at Mahidol University.The lecture will review the scientific and clinical development of regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs), beginning with early comparative outcome studies against conventional apexification approaches, followed by long-term evaluation of treatment outcomes and prognostic factors in a large clinical cohort. Emphasis will be placed on factors influencing healing, root development, sensibility recovery, and functional tooth retention, together with emerging evidence related to irrigation protocols, scaffold biology, biomaterial selection, and treatment-related adverse events.
By integrating clinical data with laboratory investigations, this presentation aims to provide practical insights into optimising REP protocols and highlight future directions toward biologically enhanced and evidence-based regenerative endodontic treatment.
