Woven Tapestry Workshop
Two sessions are offered, which can be taken individually or as a set to develop further.
No previous experience is needed for the two sessions, and more advanced weavers are welcome to attend and do the set exercises or work on their own design, with input on drawing the cartoon, decisions about warp, weft, and techniques.
Session 1
Enjoy learning the beautiful art of tapestry by setting up a loom, mastering the plain weft-faced weave structure, and beginning to make shapes. This will give you an understanding of the basic principles of technique and how this can develop into the pictorial tapestry is famous for.
You will also be shown images of tapestry and speak about the use of colour in the weft.
