What do we know about Owls?

Presented by Leeanne Head, a volunteer researcher at the SA Museum.Why do we want to know about owls' eating habits? The fur and bones which owls regurgitate as pellets tell us what marsupials and rodents live in the area. This information is used for mapping their habitats and where we can reintroduce species to their original areas. Owl pellet dissection is fiddly work; but is exciting when you identify rare species.
In this workshop presentation, Leeanne shows us how to dissect some well-aged pellets (3-5yrs old and pre-bird flu), identify the animals and discuss the owl pellet project run at the SA Museum.
