This 90-minute interactive session (in person or virtually) helps parents move beyond tired debates
about screen time and social media bans to focus on what matters most in 2026: how to raise young
people who can use technology with judgement, balance and resilience. For families navigating the
pressures of secondary schooling and fast-changing digital culture, Jocelyn Brewer offers a practical,
positive framework for supporting teens at home without constant conflict or surveillance.
The session explores how technology now shapes not only entertainment and social connection, but
also learning, identity, friendship, sleep, emotional regulation and family life. Parents will better
understand the role of AI in study, companionship and influence; why the social media minimum-age
changes have not removed the need for digital skills; and how online exposure to crisis, conflict,
misinformation and performance pressure can affect young people’s wellbeing. Using Jocelyn’s Digital
Nutrition™ framework, families will leave with a more modern, culturally responsive and collaborative
approach to guiding teenagers in an Australian context.
