About

Bookings will open on 11 September.
Duntroon House was the original homestead of Robert Campbell, who was granted land by the Governor of NSW in 1825. It is named after Duntroon Castle, in Argyllshire, Scotland. Built of solid stone and fitted throughout with cedar, it is now the Royal Military College Officers' mess. This tour will give us a rare opportunity to step inside Duntroon House, as well as tour the heritage gardens with the Duntroon Guides. You will be divided into two groups with one group to tour the House, while the group tours the gardens. After an hour, the groups will swap so you will see both the House and the Gardens. A visit to the Cadet’s Mess, the Parade Ground and Flag Station will be included.

We will contribute $5pp to their refurbishment fund to reframe medals of the 148 Duntroon graduates who died in action. (see below for more information about the Memorial Frames Project)

We will meet in the Duntroon House car park, but there is very limited parking there. Ample parking for visitors is available at the Duntroon shops nearby. Directions will be provided in the reminder before the event.

Members: $30; non-members: $35

Memorial Frames Project
The Remembrance Room in the Corps of Staff Cadet’s mess is one of the most
significant heritage spaces in the Royal Military College. It displays a memorial
frame for all 148 graduates killed in action, or on operational service, from RMC
Duntroon, OCS Portsea, and OTU Scheyville. The original project to create the
frames began in 1998 and was entirely the initiative of the cadets themselves.
Unfortunately, over 40 of the frames are now out of date due to changes in medal
entitlements. Several frames are also in need of minor repair or refurbishment.
To correct these deficiencies, the Duntroon Society has commenced a project to
ensure all frames accurately reflect the full medal entitlements of the fallen.
If you would like to contribute to meeting the costs of this project, your donation
would be warmly received.
