Supporting Sexuality & Relationships in Disability Practice
About
This workshop provides an introductory, practice-focused overview of supporting sexuality and relationships for people with disabilities, designed specifically for PA’s, coordinators, and frontline personnel. It will explore foundational concepts of sexuality and disability through a rights-based and neuroaffirming lens, with a focus on supporting dignity, autonomy, and informed choice in everyday practice. Participants will build understanding of how to respond to behaviours of concern in a sexuality context, and explore how to support safe, respectful expressions of intimacy and connection within their role.
The session will also include practical guidance on supporting relationships in real-world settings, including language to use, reflective case examples, and strategies for responding confidently and appropriately.
Additional areas will briefly cover professional boundaries and scope of practice, navigating personal values and discomfort, and key considerations around consent, capacity, and boundaries in support work.
Perfect for disability workers, coordinators, or families.
Please note:
Attendance at this training is voluntary and staff will not be paid to attend. If you are hoping to attend during your work hours, you will need to discuss this with your coordinator or employer to see if arrangements can be agreed.
