Join us for SmackTalk: Conversations That Matter, a free parent and carer session with SmackTalk founder Wayne Holdsworth.Founded following the devastating loss of Wayne’s son, Mac, in 2023, SmackTalk aims to reduce stigma, reframe mental health as mental fitness, and equip people with practical skills to recognise when someone may be struggling and know how to respond.
Designed specifically for parents and carers, this session will explore practical strategies to:
Recognise signs that a young person may be struggling
Understand the risks and potential impacts of social media on young people’s wellbeing and mental fitness
Support healthier relationships with technology and social media
Start and navigate difficult conversations
Ask meaningful questions and listen effectively
Strengthen connection and communication at home
Build confidence in supporting young people through challenging times
The session will take place immediately following our March for Mental Fitness on R U OK? Day. Participation in the walk is not required to attend this session.
This is a free event; however, places are limited and bookings are essential.
