It’s 15 ish years since Dan Kelly released his climate change concept album Dan Kelly’s Dream. A full on audio manga explosion of soundz and lyrics covering pollution, urban terrorism, factory workers in space, underwater escape fantasies, boat people, the elite flight towards coastal boltholes, apocalyptic level partying and the boring yet inevitable stumble toward sobriety. Some even called it prescient, as depressing at that is. It’s actually a very fun and catchy record!To celebrate this vague anniversary Dan Kelly will perform the album in its entirety, both solo and with the help of Brisbane synth wunderkind Seja Vogel (Seja, Sekiden, Regurgitator) at the Merri Creek Tavern, on Wednesday September 23 between 8-10 pm. Seja will do a set featuring songs from her excellent albums Here is One I Know You Know and All Our Wires at 8pm, then Dan and Seja will bring Dan Kelly’s Dream back to life with an MPC, many synths and keyboards and a whole bunch of nineties tuned guitars from 840 pm. Nice early weekday show
