ICE WALA – METRONET - Byford Rail Extension

The Institution of Civil Engineers Western Australia Local Association invite you to hear about the recently completed Byford Rail Extension, completed as part of the Metronet program of works.As well as extending the existing electrified network 8km further South, the Byford Rail Extension addressed the long-standing risk and inconvenience of having the at-grade rail line passing through the middle of Armadale by the introduction of a 1.5km multi-track rail viaduct. Two road bridges, three pedestrian bridges and an additional rail bridge were also constructed, contributing to the removal of five level crossings from this stretch of rail.
Members from the MetCONNX Alliance will take us through some of the key challenges experienced and how they were overcome to deliver this fantastic new transport link and new stations.
