ABOUT

Join us for the Shirley Treacy Awards 2026 Online Award Presentation on Saturday 12 September at 2.00pm, where the 2026 Shirley Treacy Award for each grade and other prize recipients from across Regional Queensland will be announced.

The presentation will feature a screening of each Overall Awards Finalist performing their dance or variation, followed by the announcement of award recipients by our esteemed Guest Co-Adjudicators, David McAllister AC and Fiona Tonkin OAM, who will be joining us live online.

Held throughout August and September in Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and Rockhampton, the Shirley Treacy Awards provide students with the opportunity to showcase their artistry, technical achievement and performance skills in a unique regional awards format.

TICKETS AND ACCESS TO THE ZOOM EVENT

Tickets: $10 per household

Please select one (1) ticket per household. Your ticket provides access to the live Zoom presentation for everyone viewing from the same household.

Once registered, you will receive a Zoom link prior to the event. We encourage family and friends to enjoy the presentation together from home.

Overall Award Finalists will receive a complimentary discount code to attend the Online Award Presentation with their family.

Teachers, supporters and other audience members are welcome to purchase a household ticket through TryBooking to receive access to the live event.


PRESENTATION FORMAT & RUNNING ORDER

The Online Award Presentation will include screenings of the Overall Awards Finalists from each city, followed by the live announcement of awards and prize recipients by David McAllister AC and Fiona Tonkin OAM.

Duration: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes
Time: 2.00pm to approximately 3.15pm

The presentation will progress by award level, with performances screened prior to the announcement of results for that level.

A proposed order is as follows:

  • Welcome
  • Grade 4 & Grade 5 Overall Finalists
  • Grade 4 & Grade 5 Awards Presentation
  • Intermediate Foundation & Intermediate Overall Finalists
  • Intermediate Foundation & Intermediate Awards Presentation
  • Advanced Foundation, Advance 1 and Advance 2 Overall Finalists
  • Advanced Foundation, Advance 1 and Advance 2 Awards Presentation
  • Closing

If you are unable to attend for the full duration, you are welcome to join or leave the presentation at any time.


GUEST CO-ADJUDICATORS

David McAllister AC

David McAllister is one of Australia's most respected ballet artists and arts leaders. He joined The Australian Ballet in 1983, was promoted to Principal Artist in 1989, and performed leading roles in many of the world's great classical ballets. Throughout his performing career, he appeared as a guest artist with international ballet companies including the Bolshoi Ballet, Kirov Ballet and National Ballet of Canada.

In 2001, David became Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet, leading the company for twenty years. Since then, he has continued to work internationally as an artistic director, author and creative consultant. David has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the arts with both a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) and later a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC), Australia's highest civilian honour.

Fiona Tonkin OAM

Fiona Tonkin is an acclaimed former Principal Artist of The Australian Ballet and one of Australia's most respected ballet educators and coaches. After beginning her professional career with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, she joined The Australian Ballet in 1980 and became a Principal Artist in 1987.

During her distinguished performing career, Fiona danced leading roles throughout Australia and internationally, including at the Royal Opera House in London, the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg and the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. Following her performing career, she held senior artistic positions with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, English National Ballet and The Australian Ballet.

In recognition of her significant contribution to the performing arts, Fiona was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2019. She continues to work as a highly regarded coach, mentor and artist.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ATTENDANCE

By registering for and attending the Shirley Treacy Awards Online Award Presentation, attendees agree to the following:

  • The Online Award Presentation is delivered via the Zoom online meeting platform.
  • Tickets must be purchased through TryBooking and bookings close at the advertised date and time.
  • Each Zoom access link is valid for one household only.
  • Attendees must not share, distribute or forward the Zoom link to any other person.
  • Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, including in cases of change of mind or scheduling conflicts.
  • By joining the Zoom event, attendees acknowledge that their image, audio and video may be visible to other attendees during the live presentation.
  • Attendees must not take photographs, screenshots, video recordings or screen captures of performances or participants without the express permission of those involved.
  • The Royal Academy of Dance may capture screenshots or images from the event for promotional, marketing or reporting purposes unless otherwise advised.
  • Overall Award Finalists consent to their recorded performance being screened during the Online Award Presentation in accordance with the Shirley Treacy Awards Terms and Conditions of Entry.
  • Event details are subject to change and the Royal Academy of Dance reserves the right to make amendments where necessary.
  • The adjudicators' decisions are final.
  • All attendees must adhere to the Royal Academy of Dance Code of Conduct for Teachers and Parents. Failure to comply may result in disqualification from the Awards.
