A welcoming, hands-on art workshop exploring the Natural History of Flora and Birds, learning new and old techniques and personal expression. Suited to beginners and experienced artists alike — all materials provided.

Tutor - Molly Gill
Drawing using drafting film
Students will be introduced to tracing images using drafting film, a substrate used by scientific illustrators and artists to draw portraits of animals. Working with close-up images of animals this workshop is an introduction to working with this translucent film using colour pencil, pen and ink, graphite, acrylics, and gel pen. Learn techniques to achieve the effect of fur or the shine of bright eyes. Tracing with drafting film opens opportunities for artists to try new creative approaches. – All materials provided.

Make an Artist Book using drawings from nature
Students will be welcomed to draw from a series of natural and still life elements set up in the studio. They will then bind their artworks into a simple accordion book to keep. – All materials provided.

An introduction to the fundamentals of drawing and painting.
Drawing isn't the problem, seeing is ! This class provides an opportunity to change the way you look at things and instantly improve your drawing. Jon Ellis’ Introduction to Painting is designed to deal with the fundamental principles of image making in a practical way. – All materials provided.
This event runs in conjunction with Foundations, the exciting new exhibition celebrating the diverse practices emerging from the Gosford Regional Gallery Educational Studios in 2026. Foundations is in the Community Gallery from Friday 18 September to Monday October 5.
