About
Got a kid who loves to sew, crochet or knit? Or who wants to learn these skills while helping make items for charity? Maybe you want to teach them the importance of giving this school holidays?Bring them along to one of our Charity Crafting School Holiday Edition sessions. Come for the whole time, just for an hour or two, or as long as their attention allows. These are casual and collaborative sessions. Bring a sewing machine if you have one, sheets/linen/fabric if you have any to donate and some food or drinks if you would like to.
Our main focus will be making Boomerang Bags which are reusable shopping bags made from post-consumer waste textiles (such as sheets, doona covers, pillowcases, etc), but you are welcome to bring along other projects you are working on for charities (such as baby beanies for NICU, blankets for the homeless, etc), or we will have some ideas available on the day. We will also have some scrunchies to make.
All experience levels welcome, there are tasks that don't require any sewing, knitting or crochet knowledge, such as ironing, cutting, counting & packaging. If you are wanting to learn to crochet, the Sunday session is recommended as we don't have someone who crochets available on the Friday (unless another participant knows how to do so).
This is a FREE activity with tools & craft supplies provided. Please note that all items made in this session will be donated to charity, so there will be no products to take home at the end of the session.
Tickets are not required, but registering gives us an idea of turnout and allows us to plan ahead.
