The Power of Play: connecting well-being, development and the Digital Child
Join ECA WA for a practical and engaging day exploring how play supports children’s wellbeing, development and learning—including thoughtful approaches to the Digital Child. Connect with colleagues, share ideas and take part in hands-on experiences designed for early childhood educators and sector professionals.
The morning opens with our multidisciplinary panel: Play, Development and Wellbeing. What does it take to support the whole child through play? Bringing together perspectives from early childhood, Playgroup WA, mental health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and physical literacy, the panel offers practical insights for everyday practice.
Choose one specialist small-group experience:
• Children’s Technology Cove: Hands-on Digital Play – explore active, engaging digital play in Curtin University’s living laboratory, supported by the Digital Child team.
• Weaving & Creative Play – connect through a guided, hands-on weaving experience facilitated by First Nations weaver Polly Wilson.
• KIDDO – build confidence with practical movement activities and resources that support children’s gross motor development and a lifelong love of movement through play.
All attendees will also take part in a guided REmida creative reuse experience.
The afternoon program will feature Digital Technologies and Play: What the Research Means for Educators. Healthy. Connected. Educated. Hear perspectives from all three Digital Child research programs at Curtin as the panel explores what digital technologies mean for children’s play—and for early childhood practice.
Morning tea and lunch are included. Catering selections and allergy information will be collected during booking.
Tickets: $70 for current ECA WA members and $150 for non-members, plus TryBooking fees. Members will need their membership number when booking.
